Fat Who?

Founder and owner Allison Cohen grew up in Southern California, but she spent nearly every summer of her childhood in Thomasville, North Carolina, both her mother's and her father's hometown.
Those summers were filled with delicious homemade Southern food and desserts and are the inspiration for Fat Boo's Bakery.
Fat Boo was Allison's paternal grandmother's nickname. Her real name was Ruby Boyles, but as the story goes, one of Allison's young cousins couldn't pronounce Ruby, instead calling the family matriarch "Booby." The name was altered slightly—as Ruby was short and round—and became, lovingly, Fat Boo.
Many offerings are recipes of Fat Boo's. Others are from the kitchens of Allison's many aunts who also lived in Thomasville. Others have been created by Allison invoking the tastes and textures of this small Southern town.
